01 — Overview

A platform that grew faster than its design language.

Tigo Energy is a renewable-energy company. Its platform helps businesses forecast energy generation and consumption, analyse performance data, and make operational decisions with confidence.

The ecosystem ran deep: complex dashboards, reporting systems, analytics tools, advanced filtering, data tables, custom dashboard builders and mobile apps — serving both enterprise clients and individual solar-equipment owners. My job was to make all of it feel like one product.

02 — Responsibilities

Eight workstreams, one accountable lead.

UX audit & analysis

Full evaluation of existing flows, inconsistencies and opportunities.

Design strategy

Defining the approach to unify a multi-product platform.

Design system creation

Tokens, components and patterns documented across all surfaces.

Information architecture

Re-structured navigation and entity relationships across sections.

Dashboards & analytics

Custom dashboard builders, data visualisation and reporting UI.

Mobile application design

iOS and Android apps for homeowners monitoring solar systems.

Website improvements

Marketing and product pages aligned with the new design language.

Stakeholders & research

Working with enterprise clients and internal teams to validate decisions.

03 — The key challenge

Years of divergent design, colliding in one platform.

The platform had evolved over many years with no unified design system. Different sections used different approaches, creating significant inconsistency — all while carrying large volumes of data, advanced filtering, complex tables and specialised enterprise workflows.

04 — Approach

A modular system, built from the data out.

After a comprehensive UX audit and stakeholder feedback sessions, I built a modular design system around reusable components and consistent principles — a scalable foundation the team could keep building on.

Custom dashboard builder

Composable dashboards from one library.

Market Insights lets analysts assemble their own views — charts, gauges and KPI tiles drag into a responsive grid, every widget drawn from the same component kit.

  • Widget kit — line, bar, donut and KPI tiles share one spec and behaviour.
  • Real-time mode — live data behind a single, predictable toggle.
  • Edit in place — add, filter and rearrange metrics without leaving the page.

/ 02 — Forecasting & analytics
Analytics tools

Forecasts that stay legible at scale.

The trading and forecasting tools layer demand, generation and price curves over dense planning tables — heavy data made scannable through restrained colour and clear hierarchy.

  • Layered curves — actuals, forecast and plan read clearly against each other.
  • Planning grid — editable rows sit directly beneath the chart that drives them.
  • Restrained palette — colour signals meaning, never decoration.

/ 03 — Data tables & ingestion
Complex tables · Filtering

Heavy tables, advanced filters, a calm surface.

Reporting and data-ingestion screens move hundreds of rows. Consistent density, sticky headers and a shared filter pattern keep them fast to scan and safe to operate.

  • One table spec — sorting, status and row actions behave the same everywhere.
  • Guided mapping — column-mapping wizards make bulk uploads foolproof.
  • Add-filter pattern — the same filtering model across every data view.

/ 04 — Customer portal
Billing & forecasts

A self-serve portal for invoices and forecasts.

Enterprise customers manage payments, consumption and next-month forecasts in one place — summary cards up top, a full invoice ledger below, exceptions surfaced early.

  • Summary first — payments, consumption and forecast in glanceable cards.
  • Failed-invoice alerts — problems surface before they become disputes.
  • Consistent ledger — the same table language as the rest of the platform.

/ 05 — Mobile & monitoring
Mobile · iOS & Android

From the grid to the homeowner's pocket.

The same system reaches individual solar owners — a focused mobile app and a light-theme monitoring view turn live power-flow data into something anyone can read at a glance.

  • Power-flow at a glance — solar, grid, battery and home in one live diagram.
  • Savings & production — lifetime impact framed in plain numbers.
  • Web-to-mobile parity — one visual language across every screen size.

05 — Design system

One language across the whole platform.

A modular system of tokens, charts and components keeps every surface consistent — from a real-time enterprise dashboard to a homeowner's phone.

Let's talk

Have an enterprise platform that's outgrown its UI?

If years of features have left you with inconsistent, data-heavy screens, a modular design system is exactly the fix I build.
